( This is a five Saturday Introduction to SLD course, which
is the prelude to nine weekdays for teachers wanting to teach students
privately for SPELADD, or interested in special needs in school.
This includes those who want to be, or are, teacher aides.)
Venue: St Marks Presbyterian Church Hall, 117 College St, Palmerston
North.
The following Sessions are below.
Day 2 Saturday 31 March 9-30am -- 3.00pm
When what you hear is misinterpreted ( poor auditory perception
) Phonological Awarness. When what you see is misinterpreted ( poor
visual perception) and how to improve these Social skills.
Day 3 Saturday 21 April 9-30am -- 3.00pm
When motor control is difficult ( dyspraxia ) The importance of
handwriting. Improving spatial awarness. Overcoming maths difficluties
( dyscalculia ). Social Skills.
Day 4 Saturday 5th May 9-30am -- 3-00pm
How to help those with dyslexia to read, spell and have improved
comprehension.
Improving children's behaviour without persuading, arguing, yelling
or hitting at home & school.
Day 5 Saturday 19 May 9-30am -- 3-00pm
Distinguishing between SLD / ADD / ADHD / Giftedness / Asperger's
/ ODD / CD and how to help child, parent and school. learning styles.
