WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING?:
A couple of good frists this week has been frost cloth, and lillys. We still have some spring bulbs that would like to be planted this month. Shallots and garlic in the vegetables are this weeks favourites. The shallots are extra large this year, they're great to grow, as you can eat the tops similar to a spring onion. The autumn colours are quickly disappearing, pleanty of leaves around now to gather for the compost or throw them on your garden as a mulch, you can't waste them. Prunning is onlu around the corner, once the leaves are off and we've had good frosts now to harden growth. Spray with lime sulphur to help defoliate and copper to help control fungus diseases. Any gardeners with irrigation systems should disconnect them, especially water timers as the frost will damage them. Water features are left running as moving water won't freeze. Best colour this week are the cyclamen and cushionmums, great colour for pots. First of the potted polyanthus are showing colour, they improve with the cold .

WHAT SHOULD YOU BE DOING?:
Filling your compost bin with leaves (do not use walnut leaves as they carry toxins) Add some aompost maker, and dolomite lime. Come into our shop and purchase spring bulbs and lillies especially our centennial lily called celebration. Get the peastraw out over the garden to help insulate it from the frost. Don't walk on your frozen lawn or garden, it damages it..
