Newsletter for the week of Wednesday 17th December 2008
Wednesday 17th December 2008
WHATS BEEN HAPPENING?:
Plenty of rain again this week and a drop in temperature has us all wondering
when will we get some consistant weather? Even the plants are confused
as some have gone to seed and some not flowering and fruiting as well
as we would like. The Tomatoes are slow this year, and strawberries have
flowered, but not set as well as other years. Vege gardens are turning
over again. Lettuces can be replaced with more of the same and spring
cabbage can be replaced with winter cabbage.Plenty of flower plants ready
now, some for instant colour out in flower on special at $1.00 and others
are a young batch for autumn colour. We have some good indoor colour for
Christmas. Poinsettas, good large plants and lillies in pots, in bud,
they will be flowering at christmas. New stock wrought iron gates and
archways, there's even a seat to put around a tree. There's plenty of
garden statues, birdbaths, pots and thats without going in to our gift
shop. We have something for everyone this christmas if in doubt buy a
voucher.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BE DOING?:
Keeping on top of the weeds. Give the compost bin some accelerator such
as sulphate of ammonia, dolomite lime or compost maker. Plant up pots
and hanging baskets to look good for next week. Have some good time off
and some quaulity time with family and friends..
