Week 2: Autumn gardening
March takes us into another autumn and, after the stresses of summer, the garden heaves a sigh of relief. For the gardener, autumn’s the season to really make the most of the outdoors.
Autumn colour
Sasanqua camellias come into bloom in early autumn. If you buy and plant when they’re looking at their best, you can have a succession of sasanqua varieties in flower through until early/mid winter.
Autumn planting
When it comes to flowers for autumn planting, this is definitely ‘P’ season, because pansies, poppies, primulas and polyanthus can all be planted at this time.

Week 3: Bountiful begonias
Begonias are amazingly versatile plants. More than 900 species occur naturally, and many more varieties have been developed by keen growers over the centuries. Although popular in relatively frost-free gardens, some begonias are also grown indoors for their flower display or their beautiful leaf markings.

Week 4: It's sweet pea season
Sweet peas are always favourites, with their fragrant winter/spring flowers immediately transporting one back to gardens of childhood.
Growing your own display of sweet peas needn't cost the earth as, luckily, they're some of the easiest flowers to grow from seed. And there's an abundance of choice in the Yates seed packet range.
