Yates Product of the Month
September 2008
Yates Super Shield
Roses are the most beloved of plants but it often seems that they're
also the first to be
attacked by pests and diseases. But at this time of year, when
they're getting ready for their
major spring display, you can be keep them looking at their best
with the help of Yates
Product of the Month for September 2008, Yates Super Shield.
Yates Super Shield combines an effective, systemic
(which means it works from within the
plant) fungicide with a low toxic contact insecticide. The fungicide
protects the plant from
common fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, rust and the dreaded
black spot.
Every rose grower is familiar with black spot. The disease starts
with dark, raggedy-edged
markings in the leaves and then, as it progresses, causes affected
leaves to yellow and,
eventually, fall. As a result, not only is the plant's appearance
spoilt, it becomes weaker with
every leaf it loses.
Spring, when roses are making their most rapid growth,
is also the time when they seem to
be irresistible to insect pests like aphids, thrips, caterpillars
and whitefly. Here again, Super
Shield can be a tremendous help. As a bonus, the insecticide in
Super Shield controls those
notoriously troublesome mites that cause rapid leaf discolouration,
particularly during dry
spells. And, because the insecticide in Super Shield is bee-friendly,
there's no threat to
bees foraging in the garden.
A fortnightly application of Yates Super Shield
will keep roses in good health, and with its
economical concentrate formulation, Super Shield goes a long way,
making it ideal for larger
rose gardens. For smaller gardens, look for the convenient, ready-to-use
Rose Gun.
Yates Super Shield isn't just useful in the rose
garden: it can be applied to control similar
pests and problems on a wide range of ornamental garden plants.
Yates Super Shield is available in a 200mL and a
500mL container, both with a handy
detachable measure clipped to the side.
